Ostrov. Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.
On the very south of Pinsk district there is a village called Ostrov, in the middle of which the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is built. The church was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1720 and originally belonged to Uniate believers. During the era of the Russian Empire in the 19th century, after the prohibition of the union, the building was transferred to the Orthodox Church. In 1891, the church was rebuilt. A wooden three-tiered bell tower was installed in front of the temple, which is covered with a four-pitched roof, which was initially made of shingles.
The church is an architectural monument of wooden folk architecture. The building consists of three main parts: a vestibule, a prayer hall and an apse. A small vestibule is attached to the main facade, covered with a gable roof. A four-sided tower rises above the main volume, on which there is an octagonal drum, completed with a small onion. The main volume is covered by a gable roof. There is also a four-sided tower with a small onion above the altar. There are rectangular windows in the side walls and in the apse.
In the interior of the temple there is an icon of the 18th-19th century "Mother of God's Tenderness". The church has been renovated in recent years.
There is a wooden chapel in the local cemetery.
