Ostrov. The Church of Peter and Paul.
The Ostrov is located in the Lyakhovichi district near the Ivatsevichi-Slutsk highway. The first church in the village has been known since the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 16th and 17th centuries. The church was consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity.
Over time, the temple became outdated and fell into disrepair - then the old church was dismantled. This happened in 1773. The first church belonged to Uniate believers.
In 1862, a parish school was opened in the village. It is not known which church was operating here at that time-no documents or information have been preserved.
A new church was built on the site of the old church at the expense of parishioners, which was consecrated in honor of Saints Peter and Paul. In July 1910, the new church was consecrated. The church has been working all the time since the year of its construction: during the Great Patriotic War and the All-Soviet period. In 1989, a chapel was created in the church in honor of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa.
The church has survived to our time and it impresses us with its architecture, which does not seem to be some kind of guarded wooden tower. The shrine was built in the pseudo-Russian style.
The temple consists of four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. The church has three entrances, each decorated with a porch and a canopy with a roof and an onion dome. Each canopy is supported by wooden poles.
