Osovtsy. Church of the Archangel Michael.

An Orthodox church was built on the outskirts of the town of Osovtsy, which was consecrated in honor of St. Michael the Archangel.

The temple was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the exact year of construction is not known. The worst of it is that the church was built as a Uniate church, and during the time of the Russian Empire in the 19th century it was handed over to Orthodox believers.

In 1780, the church was rebuilt at the expense of a local landowner from the famous noble family of Kliment Ozheshko. The iconostasis was renovated and rebuilt in 1851. The roof was repaired and the walls were painted, the foundation of the building was strengthened. The church was consecrated after renovation in 1857. The consecration was conducted by Priest Georgy Shestakovsky. During the First World War, when the Russian Imperial Army was retreating, the Church stopped its work for several years. The temple began operating in 1921 after the Peace of Riga.

During the Great Patriotic War, priest Anton Olekhnovich saved residents from being shot when he persuaded a German officer not to commit a crime.

In Soviet times, the church was active and several villages belonged to its parish.

In 1836, a new iconostasis was made in the interior. There was a miraculous icon of the "Grieving" Mother of God in the church. The icon is painted on canvas and covered with a silver canopy with gilded elements. The icon was placed in a separate place of the temple, which was built at the end of the 19th century. The icon was brought from another church and was revered by both Orthodox and Catholics. In 1861, a parish school was opened at the church.
