The Church of the Intercession is an important monument of wooden architecture.
There is an information plaque on the temple with the date of construction - 1830, but some sources mention earlier information - 1749. The reason is simple: the church in Osinogorodok has been repeatedly rebuilt and reconstructed. Despite the discrepancy in the dates of construction, it is known that the Pokrovsky Church acquired its current appearance as a result of major repairs in 1897. The work was carried out with money and with the support of Prince Drutsky-Lyubetsky.
The church was built on top of the hillfort on the site of a wooden church built in 1782. Balts used to live in these places, but the Slavs came here later, founding a settlement at the base of the hill. The remains of earthen fortifications are still preserved.
The temple's design can be classified as typical, but in combination with the tower and location it looks very peculiar. It is worth highlighting the bell tower separately. Similar buildings on the territory of Belarus are rare.
The temple consists of a rectangular log house, an adjacent vestibule and a pentagonal apse. The complex multi-tiered roof of the Church of the Intercession with a high tent-roofed tower in the center gives the building a special charm. The upper tier, the bell tower, combines the features of the Art Nouveau style, which is complemented by classical Orthodox, and therefore quite simple architecture. The upper part of the temple is made of wood. The lower tier is made of rubble stone and was most likely built during the reconstruction period at the end of the 19th century. There is a small gate in front of the entrance to the temple grounds, which is simple and fairly ordinary in shape.
There are several iconic places in the distance of the temple. Two small chapels have been erected outside the church fence in memory of the soldiers who died in these places.
The first is a gravestone chapel, installed at the burial site of fallen soldiers in the war of 1812. Russians graves appeared at the top of the hillfort during the war with Napoleon, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The stone chapel was installed in 1813. Nowadays it has been restored and it is a landmark of the village.
The second chapel was built in memory of the soldiers who died in this place in 1706 during the Northern War. In the summer of 1706, a Russian regiment stopped in Osinogorodok. The soldiers prayed at a local church and set off in the morning, where the Swedes were waiting in ambush. The Russian soldiers who died in battle were buried at the ancient settlement in Osinogorodok. Today, an Orthodox memorial chapel of St. Vladimir stands on this site.
The Church of the Intercession is an important monument of wooden architecture, and attracts the attention of tourists with its historical significance and unusual location.
