Oshmyany. Holy Resurrection Church.

If you come to the very center of Oshmyany, you will immediately see two beautiful old churches on the former market square, now the 17th September Square: the Church of the Archangel Michael, dominating the entire area, and the Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection located nearby. The Orthodox church was built on the site where a Catholic Dominican church and monastery once stood. Permission to build the church was received in 1873. The church was built in 1875 according to the design of the architect Nikolai Chagin (1823 - 1909). According to the spiritual will of P.I. Medintsov, 600 rubles were allocated to the church in 1894.

In 1964, the church was closed by the Soviet authorities. Church property was plundered, the domes were demolished, the bell tower was destroyed, and the church building itself was turned into a warehouse. It was handed over to believers and restored in 1988-1990. In 2001, the sisterhood of the holy martyr Barbara was registered in the church, where a Sunday school began to operate.

The church is an architectural monument of the retrospective Russian style. This is a typical design, according to which many Orthodox churches were built in the Russian Empire at that time. The building is cross-domed in plan, with low apses and rectangular side naves. In the church, above the middle cross, there is an octagonal light drum. An octagonal belfry is built above the narthex.
