The Trinity Church in Orekhovsk is a vivid example of wooden architecture.

The current wooden church building is a cuboid-shaped central volume with a semicircular apse, a small vestibule and a spherical dome on a low round drum. The construction of the church dates back to 1838. However, the history of the temple goes back much deeper, to 1647.

This is evidenced by the first known mention. According to one legend, the Trinity Church was built in honor of the victory of the Russian troops over the Napoleonic troops. According to legend, by order of Prince Mikhail Kutuzov, an arch was built inside the church, which he called the "Impassable Gate." It was here, within the walls of this temple, that the first thanksgiving prayers and memorial services were held for the Russian soldiers who died during the Patriotic War of 1812.

It is known that over the centuries, wooden churches on this site have replaced each other, each of them contributing to the chronicle of the Orekhovo settlement.

The modern building, built on the site of its predecessors, is a striking example of wooden architecture, so widespread in the first half of the 19th century. The walls are made up of vertically stacked logs. They have almost no windows and are clad with boards from the outside. The characteristic features of this style are clearly visible in the overall compositional solution. Together with the wooden two-tiered freestanding bell tower, the temple creates a single complex. Inside, the Trinity Church is plastered, which in itself is a non-trivial solution for a wooden building of that time.

Overall, this is an interesting wooden church with a rich history that is worth seeing.
