Novy Sverzhen. Peter and Paul Church
On the way from Stolbtsy to Nesvizh, after a few kilometers you will reach the town of Novy Sverzhen, which has preserved several architectural monuments. A Catholic church and an Orthodox church stand on the former shopping square. The Church of Peter and Paul is right in front of you on the way and was built in the 16th century. In 1588, Radzivil founded a Catholic church, which was built until 1600. During the centuries of its existence, the Catholic shrine was rebuilt several times. In Soviet times, the church was closed, and in 1988 it was returned to the faithful. The temple is a rectangular building with one four-sided multi-tiered tower. A massive defensive tower is located above the entrance. The church is one-nave. The church has side chapels: St. Anthony on the left and Virgin Mary on the right. A staircase in the western wall leads to the choir. The interior is decorated with decorative ribs. If you go to the church on foot, please note that the old cobblestones on the former shopping square have been preserved.
