Grandfather Talash's house Museum.
Grandfather Talash lived all his life in the village of Novoselki. At the entrance to the village, there is a carved frame and five sculptural compositions made of century-old oak. The exhibition area is 63 square meters. It consists of sections: 1. Grandfather Talash's family; 2. Grandfather Talash and his fellow villagers; 3. 125-130 th partisan brigades.
The exhibition is a reconstructed manor house, with a small hut built on the model of the former house of Talash's Grandfather, burned down by the White Poles, a new house built by Talash and his sons, as well as a barn, cellar and well.
In the "vestibule" of the small hut there is a linen chest, a loom, millstones used to grind grain, and grandfather's hemp net. Interesting things are on display in the house: a wooden bucket, a long peasant "canopic jar", a table where Talash sat with his family, a samovar, and a dough bowl on the stove.
To the left of the hut is a barn where cattle were kept. It exhibits various tools of peasant labor, a canoe made of oak. Next is a cellar for storing food and a sixth well.
The second house, which Talash and his sons built after the Civil War, has also been preserved. The house has been renovated. It contains an exhibition telling about the life and military path of Talash, his comrades and fellow villagers. One of the museum's showcases contains Talash's personal belongings: a spoon, a hat, and a belt. There are many photos of him among the partisans, with Yakub Kolos, and photo productions from paintings. There are photos of his sons and daughters on the stand, and he had thirteen of them. A separate photo booth dedicated to the 130th Petrikov and 125th Kopatkevichi partisan brigades.
Grandfather Talash lived a heroic life. During the Polish occupation, he was the commander of a 300-man partisan detachment, was an infantry regiment scout, and also carried out important assignments for the Red Army to distribute underground literature behind the front lines and among Polish soldiers. At the age of 76, he was in the ranks of the Red Army by his own vocation. Talash's grandfather was also the chairman of the village Council.
In 1928, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for his active participation in the Partisan movement during the Civil War. At the age of almost a century, during the Great Patriotic War, he was active in providing Belarusian partisans with clothing, ammunition and food. At the age of 100, he continued to work as a forester Petrikov forestry.
Grandfather Talash died at the age of 103 and was buried at the city cemetery in Petrikov. A monument with a bust of Vasily Isaakovich Talash by the famous Belarusian sculptor Zair Azgur has been erected in the city park.
Grandfather Talash is a legendary figure, known to many of us since school days. This is the man who became the prototype of the story by Yakub Kolas and the symbol of Belarusian patriotism.
