Description

A monument to the national poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas has been erected in the center of Novogrudok on Adam Mickiewicz Street. It is no coincidence that a monument to the poet was erected here on Mickiewicz Street near the bus station, because Kolas's real name was Konstantin Mikhailovich Mickiewicz.
Kolas first visited Novogrudok in 1940, and was there more than once after the Great Patriotic War, as he was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR from the Novogrudok district.

Novogrudok. Monument to the national poet Yakub Kolas.

There is a monument to the national poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas (1882-1956) in Novogrudok on Adam Mickiewicz Street. The monument is installed near the bus station building.

Why did they put up a monument to the folk singer here? Yakub Kolas' real name is Konstantin Mikhailovich Mickiewicz. That's why they erected a monument to Mickiewicz on Mickiewicz Street.

Yakub Kolas has been to the city of Novogrudok more than once. The national poet visited the city for the first time in 1940. The poet did not come alone, but as part of the republican commission, which organized events to perpetuate the memory of Adam Mickiewicz, as it was the 85th anniversary of the death of the brilliant poet-countryman.

After the Great Patriotic War, Y. Kolas came to Novogrudok more than once as a poet and an honored guest, since at that time Y. Kolas was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the BSSR from the Novogrudok district.

Local historians and schoolchildren have developed a local history tourist route "From Mickiewicz to Mickiewicz", where they visit the native places of Adam Mickiewicz, and then places related to the life and work of Yakub Kolas.
