Description
The village of Novaya Mysh (Baranovichi district, Brest region) has an interesting and long history. The castle hill, the Catholic church of the 17th-19th centuries and the Orthodox Transfiguration of the Savior Church of the 19th century have been preserved here.
The church is wooden, functioning, very beautiful and soulful. With very friendly ministers who can tell the history of this temple. In the church there is an icon of St. George the Victorious, which was cut by German bayonets.

Novaya Mysh. Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
The Transfiguration Church has existed in the town of Novaya Mysh since the 16th century. The first temple was built with funds from the magnates Chodkiewicz. Since the 17th century, the church has been owned by the Uniates. During the war in the mid-17th century between the Tsardom of Moscow and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Novaya Mysh almost completely burned down.
In 1714, the church was rebuilt again. The church passed from the Uniates to the Orthodox after the union was banned in 1839. A new church was built in 1859 from wood, funded by parishioners and benefactors, and has survived in this form to this day. In 1911, a monument to Emperor Alexander II was erected near the entrance to the church.
The church was built on the site of a former market square next to a Catholic church.
The church is an architectural monument of the retrospective Russian style, which was very popular in the Russian Empire in the 19th century. A centric cross-domed temple. The main volume has the shape of a cube under a hipped roof. There is an octagonal drum above the prayer hall. The window openings, framed in snow-white elegant frames, give the building a special solemnity and severity. A high round staircase leads to the main entrance of the temple. A belfry is arranged in one of the corner drums.
The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior is recognized as a historical and architectural monument. The adjacent territory is landscaped and surrounded by a fence with Holy Gates. The church is active.
