Nesvizh. Monument to Simon Budny
Simon Budny was born in Podlasie, near Gonendz, in a Belarusian family. He was educated at the Krakow Academy and continued his study trips to Italy and Switzerland. Budny was one of the most educated people of his time, imbued with the ideas of the Reformation, and soon became known as a man of high education and tireless activity among the innovators of that time.
In 1582, a council was held in Luslavitsy, at which the "Polish brothers" decided to remove Simon Budny from his spiritual duties, which forced him to partially renounce some of his views. In 1583, he published a book "About Secular Power", where he described his social and religious-philosophical differences with "radical" Calvinists over government posts and conscription of Protestants. For publishing this book at the council in Hungary in 1584, the "Polish brothers" expelled him from the fraternal community, but by the early 1590s he had reconciled with them.
The monument to Simon Budny, made of bronze, stands on a small pedestal with his name on it. The monument itself makes a strong impression and is admired by connoisseurs of architecture. In the hands of Budny there is a book with the emblem of the sun — a symbol of knowledge and wisdom. This book was the eternal companion of the printer and the educator.
It is important to note that Simon Budny worked in Vilnius and always supported the Belarusian word. The authorities are trying to keep the monument in excellent condition, emphasizing its cultural significance for the current generation. People passing by often pay attention to the sculpture with its original design. The location near the Orthodox Church was not chosen by chance, since Budny was closely associated with the clergy.
The monument to Simon Budny is a significant cultural object, attracting the attention of both locals and tourists. The original design and historical significance of this sculpture continue to inspire and delight everyone who sees it.
