The Church of St. Elijah in Naroch is an architectural monument of the 19th century.

The architectural features of the temple belong to ancient traditions, as there is a 'babynets' - a western vestibule, specially designed for female parishioners. Such vestibules are more often found in wooden temples, which indicates the possible existence of their predecessors in Naroch.

Other interesting elements of the temple include a massive belfry and an apse typical of Western architecture. Rubble fencing has been preserved around the temple, but the old main gate has been lost and replaced with brick ones.

The altar part is decorated with a relief iconostasis, carved from wood more than a hundred years ago. The central royal gates are incredibly beautiful: the delicate carvings resemble lace. The scenes of the Last Supper, the Resurrection, the Transfiguration and the Nativity, as well as the icons of Christ and the Mother of God from the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the temple demonstrate the richness of paintings from past centuries.

At the end of the First World War, the church suffered from a fire and was closed until 1925. The Soviet government closed it in 1962 and it served as a warehouse. In 1988, the church was returned to the faithful through the efforts of Father Georgy Mitko.

Today, the doors of the church are open almost daily to all comers. The temple is an integral part of village life. If you are lucky enough to visit the temple on August 2, when the Orthodox celebrate the feast of the Prophet Elijah, you will really find yourself in a good place. Thousands of believers gather to pay homage to the Saint.

People tend to go to the temple, because there are numerous miracles behind its stories related to the prophet Elijah. One of them tells how the supplies of butter and flour did not run out in the widow's house, where Elijah was staying. There is also a famous story about the resurrection of the widow's son. Elijah is considered to be the harbinger of Christ's coming to earth, the first to bring this joyful news.

Come to St. Elijah's Church. It leaves an unforgettable impression!
