Museum of Folk Art "Bezdezhsky Fartushok"
The Bezdezhsky Fartushok Folk Art Museum is one of the most unique museums in Belarus. Most of the exhibits in this museum were found in Bezdezh, so the museum was opened right there on January 17, 1999. The museum collection is very large and occupies 7 spacious halls: it contains antique handmade aprons from the 19th and 20th centuries. The pattern of each apron is unique, so they all exist in a single copy. The collection includes 319 hand-woven aprons, 45 tablecloths and 205 handkerchiefs. In addition, the museum has almost completely restored the Polesie way of life of the early 20th century, and here you can find other interesting exhibits, items of peasant life. By visiting the "Bezdezhsky Fartushok", you will learn a lot about the life and traditions of the Belarusian people, watch the professional, difficult and magical work of master weavers, and you will also be able to take part in master classes in folk crafts - weaving, embroidery, spinning, wickerwork. You will listen to folk songs, learn Belarusian traditional dances and participate in other folk events. On the territory of the Bezdezhsky Fartushok Museum of Creativity, rituals, concerts, entertainment programs, plein airs of regional artists, festivals, museum night and such folk holidays as Epiphany, Kolyada, Maslenitsa, Gukanne Vyasny, Kupala are also held. In summer, museum visitors can ride around the village of Bezdezh in a carriage, and in winter on a sleigh. Particular attention should also be paid to tasting dishes of traditional Bezdezh cuisine, cooked in a real Russian stove. During the excursion you can have a photo session in real Belarusian traditional costumes!
