Molchad. The Church of Peter and Paul.
In the center of the village of Molchad, Baranovichi district, stands the stone Orthodox Church of Peter and Paul. The temple was built in the 19th century during the Russian Empire in the pseudo-Russian style.
The building was built according to a standard design, and the architect Nikolai Tikhvinsky finalized the project. Construction began in 1869. Merchants Nachman Butkovsky, Abram Prekhner and Shiman Skidelsky were the contractors. The shrine was completed in 1873.
In 1897, Venedikt Kachanovsky was the rector of the church, and there was a parish trusteeship at the temple. There were also five parish schools, which worked in nearby villages. There was a public school with 130 students in Molchad.
There was also a wooden church of the Holy Cross with a bell tower at the local cemetery. The cemetery church was built in 1800 at Volovich's expense, and apparently originally belonged to the Uniates.
The Church of Peter and Paul is built on a hill in the middle of the village on the place where there was once a Catholic church. The building consists of four canonical main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A multi-tiered eight-by-four bell tower has been erected above the vestibule. Five domes rise above the main volume.
