Mokroe. The Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul.
In the village of Mokroe in the Pruzhany district there is a stone Orthodox church in honor of the Apostles Peter and Paul. The temple was built in the 19th century during the time of the Russian Empire. At that time, this area was part of the Pruzhany district of the Grodno province. And during the time of the Polish state of 1921 - 1939 – the Polesie voivodeship of the Pruzhany region.
The Church of Peter and Paul was built by order of Count M. Muravyov with state money. More than six thousand rubles were spent from the treasury, and the construction of the church itself was managed by the local parish trusteeship.
Donations were collected from parishioners with whose funds the sacristy, side doors, purchased church items, and so on were made. The local priest Smolsky donated 100 rubles, the peasant Yakov Zelenko – 10 rubles, Melania Plyaskova - 23 rubles.
The temple was built in the retrospective Russian style. The church was consecrated in the summer of 1873 in a solemn ceremony. Pruzhany priest Nikolai Zhukovich and four other priests consecrated the shrine in front of a large crowd of people.
After the Great Patriotic War, the church was closed and the building fell into disrepair.
Funds for the restoration of the temple after the collapse of the USSR could not be found. And a fellow countryman, the chairman of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, Peter Prokopovich, helped with this problem, who helped to find funds for the restoration of the monument. In 2000, the church was rededicated after the restoration.
