Memorial complex Buynichi field.

The Buinichi Field memorial complex is a historical open-air museum. On the Buynichi field on July 12, 1941, the most fierce battle took place with tank units of German troops. The defense of Mogilev, which lasted until July 22, was held by soldiers of the 172nd Infantry Division, 388th Infantry Regiment, 340th Light Artillery Regiment and people's militias, whose goal was to prevent the enemy from entering the territory of Mogilev.

It is known that during those intense days of the battle, the correspondent of the Izvestia newspaper, writer Konstantin Simonov, was on the Buinichi field. He described the events that took place there in those days in his novel “The Living and the Dead” and his diary “Different Days of the War.” K. Simonov remembered this battlefield all his life and bequeathed his ashes to be scattered over the Buinichi field. His wish was granted in 1979.

The main elements of the memorial are the arch, which serves as the entrance to the territory, and the red brick chapel, 27 meters high, which is reached by an alley connected to the central entrance. The chapel was built in the style of Orthodox architecture. Inside, the walls of the chapel are lined with light marble. On them are memorial plaques with the names of soldiers who died during the defense of Mogilev.

In the center of the chapel, as a symbol of the memory of fallen soldiers, is the “Foucault pendulum” of the Buinichi Memorial, and under the chapel there is a crypt where the fallen soldiers are buried.

On the territory of the complex there are samples of military equipment: tanks, guns, artillery pieces, and an anti-aircraft gun. There is also a unique trophy here - a German tank raised from the Drut River in 1994.

In the distance is the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist. In the church, at every Liturgy, prayers are read for all those who died on the battlefield.

There are endless fields around, trees grow along the perimeter, including ancient oaks, nearby is the “Lake of Tears” with an island and a bridge, a pond, and walking paths along the embankment.

Walking leisurely, you can think about the past for a long time. I can’t even believe that this place was once a bloody battlefield.

Thematic classes for schoolchildren, rallies and other patriotic events are constantly held on the territory of the memorial.

When coming on a sightseeing tour of Mogilev, you should definitely visit this historical place of memory.

Across the road from the Buinichi field there are two objects that are also recommended for visiting: a zoo with a safari railway located on its territory and the Belarusian Village of Craftsmen complex.
