Art Museum named after P. V. Maslenikov.
The building in which the museum is located was built at the beginning of the last century. Initially, a peasant land bank was located here. After the revolution, museums were located here. There was also a special room-safe in which until the start of the Great Patriotic War such famous exhibits as the Cross of Euphrosyne of Polotsk from 1161, the silver mace of the King of Poland and Sweden Sigismund III, the gold and silver keys to the city of Mogilev were kept. Unfortunately, during the Second World War almost all exhibits were lost.
In 1944, the museum building housed the regional committee and city committee of the CPSU, then there was the editorial office of the newspaper “Mogilevskaya Pravda”.
Today the museum has such interesting permanent exhibitions as “Picture Gallery of the People’s Artist of the Republic of Belarus P. V. Maslenikov”, “Preserved Heritage”, “Fine Art of the Mogilev Region of the 20th Century. Every month there are also various temporary exhibition projects organized here for people of different ages. Exhibitions of Belarusian painting and sculpture are periodically held. Also, interesting lectures on the history of Belarusian art are held for everyone.
The Mogilev Regional Art Museum is a must-visit for all those interested in history and fine arts.
The variety of styles presented here is pleasing - there is something to look at and what to be inspired by. It will definitely be interesting for both children and adults!
