Wonderful art museum!

The building in which the museum is located is a monument of late Baroque architecture. This stone mansion with an attic belonged to a wealthy merchant family; here in 1780 the meeting of the Austrian Emperor Joseph II with the Russian Empress Catherine II took place.

The museum is dedicated to the life and work of the artist V.K. Byalynitsky-Birulya. This is the first memorial museum in the country. It houses documents, personal belongings and photographs of the artist and his family, as well as a medal received by the artist in 1911 at an exhibition in Barcelona.

Byalynitsky-Birulya was a student of Polenov and Levitan, and became a member of the Society of Traveling Exhibitions. One of the distinctive features of his works is that he painted landscapes of places associated with the life and work of outstanding cultural figures, constantly going on creative trips for this purpose. Byalynitsky-Birulya is also called the master of spring landscape, since more than two hundred works by the artist are known, where he depicts the awakening of nature after winter sleep.

The museum's collection contains about 500 works of art. There is a permanent exhibition "The Art of V.K. Byalynitsky-Birulya in the First Half of the 20th Century" and temporary art exhibitions. Watercolor painting master classes for young artists, literary and musical evenings, and world cinema screenings are held regularly.

A wonderful art museum! Many works are impressive, delivering untold aesthetic pleasure. The townspeople are very pleased that thanks to the temporary exhibitions constantly held here, you can get acquainted with canvases from various art funds and simply the works of talented artists.
