The Mogilev Regional Drama Theatre is an architectural monument of the 19th century.

The Mogilev Regional Drama Theatre is an architectural monument of the 19th century. It is known that the Mogilev Theatre was built on donations from citizens, which they made voluntarily. The theatre has quite an interesting history.

It was built of red brick in the neo-Russian style. The building is rectangular in shape with two "towers" at the corners and decorative elements painted white. The theater hall, designed for 500 people, was a smaller copy of the Warsaw Maly Theater.

Until 1928, the Mogilev Drama Theatre did not have a permanent troupe. In 1928, the founder of the first theatre in Mogilev, V. Kumelsky, created a travelling troupe of 28 people. During the Great Patriotic War, the theatre did not work, from April 1945 to mid-1947 the theatre worked in Grodno, then in Minsk. The permanent theatre in Mogilev opened only in October 1954, when the repertoire expanded, the first tours began. The creative life of the Mogilev theatre has always been and is distinguished by the diversity of the repertoire, the relevance of the plays, and talented actors.

For a long time, namely from the mid-1980s to 2000, the theater building was under reconstruction. During this time, the foundation was strengthened, the facade was restored, work was carried out to preserve and recreate the interior of the early 20th century, which made it possible to preserve the old building.

Today, the theater's interior features beautiful carved balconies and interesting stucco decorations. The theater has an "imperial box" associated with the name of Nicholas II, as well as a beautiful chandelier in the large hall, which consists of 300 bulbs and weighs over 200 kg.

At the main entrance there is a sculpture "Lady with a Dog", imitating the atmosphere of the 19th century.

Since 2006, the theatre has been hosting the original youth theatre forum "M.art-kontakt". This is a festival of performances that actors from different countries and cities of Belarus stage on the Mogilev stage over the course of 8 days. Spectators vote for the performances they like, and by the last day of the forum, the results are summed up and the winners are awarded.
