Mogilev. Myshakov cemetery.

The historical center of Mogilev is located on several mountains, one of which is called Masheka mountain, or the district is called Myshakovka. According to legend, the robber Masheka lived here. Famous Mogilev nobles and nobility, priests and townspeople were buried at the cemetery. 2 tombstones with coats of arms of the 18th century, several dozen graves of the 19th and early 20th centuries have survived to our time.

The cemetery consists of a Christian half and a Jewish half. In the 18th century, a wooden church was built on the hill on the Christian half of the cemetery. Among the famous representatives of Mogilev who found their rest here, the following can be named: poet Ihar Shklyareuski (1938 – 2021), merchant and public figure Potapiy Koptselev, there is a whole necropolis of the Grum-Grzymail family, Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Korolev, relatives of singer Natalya Podolskaya.

Across the road from the Christian part of the cemetery, a Jewish cemetery was founded in the early 19th century, which in recent years, thanks to the efforts of the Jewish diaspora, has been improved. An honorable citizen of Mogilev, a merchant of the first guild, Shmaryahu Zukerman, who is known for having built a large brick synagogue in the center of the city, is buried here; Moisha Bobovik is the owner of a large profitable house at 35 Lenina pedestrian street and many other prominent figures. There are several ancient oak trees in the cemetery.
