A museum for lovers of Belarusian culture and everyday life.

The Museum of Ethnography was opened in Mogilev in 1981. It was originally located in a wooden house built in the early 20th century. Since 1996, it has been located in a new building in the city center. By the way, the Jesuit college was previously located at this place.

The Museum of Ethnography presents to visitors an exposition of rural and urban life, which is located on an area of 700 square meters.

Here we can see tools, clothes and jewelry, household items of the population of Mogilev province of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is interesting to get acquainted with the history of the peasantry and with the examples of decorative and applied arts and local crafts of the second half of the 20th century presented here.

The main exhibition entitled "The Lands of the native cycle" was opened at the end of 1999. Thanks to her, you can get acquainted with the rituals and holidays of the peasants of the local region of the late 19th – early 20th century.

In 2004, the second exposition was opened - Mogilev Gubernsky. It is devoted to the history of urban estates in different periods of history.

The museum's expositions are interesting and visual, they are accompanied by sufficient information material. If desired, you can order a tour guide. The museum's collections are interesting and impressive. Sometimes you even immerse yourself in the atmosphere of that time.

It is very interesting to learn about ancient customs and everyday life. It will be interesting for both adults and school-age children here. It is recommended to all lovers of Belarusian culture!

Every third Friday of the month, the permanent exhibitions of the museum can be visited for free.
