Mogilev. The cinema "Red Star".

Before the revolution, there were only 2 cinemas in the city of Mogilev. One of them, the Chary cinema, was built on Dneprovsky Prospekt, which is now called Pervomaiskaya Street. The building was severely damaged during the Civil War, and in 1930 it was significantly rebuilt in the constructivist style. Engineer E. Loser supervised the construction work. And they named the new cinema "Red Star". In December 1930, the grand opening of the institution took place. In honor of this city event, the film "Coup" by the then popular Belarusian film director Yuri Tarich was shown.

During the occupation in the Great Patriotic War, the cinema also worked, but it was called "Luch" under the Nazi invaders. In 1943, a meeting of residents of the city with collaborator General A. Vlasov took place in the cinema building, during which Mogilev underground workers scattered anti-Hitler leaflets in the room.

In the post-war period, the building was reconstructed. A cafe and slot machines for children were equipped. In addition to film screenings, meetings and presentations are held at the cinema. Sometime in 2010, Mogilev was visited by the famous Soviet film actress Natalia Krachkovskaya, with whom a creative meeting was held at the Red Star. Excerpts from films starring N. Krachkovskaya were shown, the actress answered questions from the audience present.
