Mogilev. The wing of the Spassky Monastery.

Since the 15th century, the Orthodox Church of the Savior has been known in Mogilev. Over time, the Spassky Monastery was formed, which occupied an entire block in the center of the city. The wooden buildings of the monastery were destroyed by fire during the Northern War in 1708, and in the middle of the 18th century the monastery was already built of stone. The Church of the Savior has not survived to our time. But there are several buildings from the architectural ensemble of the Spassky Monastery: the palace of Bishop George Kanisky, gates and 2 wings. The consistory was located in the wing on the right side of the gate before the revolution. The Consistory is the most important administrative institution in the Mogilev Orthodox Diocese.

And after the revolution, in the early years of Soviet power, there was a Cheka of Mogilev province. Then there were residential apartments in the building in Soviet times. There was a sandbox for children inside the courtyard, there were benches, and there was a water column at the very gate, because many buildings in the historical center, like the wing of the Spassky Monastery, were not equipped with running water. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the premises of the wing were bought by entrepreneurs, repairs were made and shops and cafes were opened here.

An Edison Bar is currently operating in the basement of the wing. It's a very atmospheric place. You come to the bar, go down to the basement, and above you are vaulted ceilings of red brick.... In addition to the architectural surroundings, there is a very good kitchen. You will like it). If you like this Place in general, as well as this site in particular, leave 1 ruble under the mat at the exit :)).

The wing was built in the late Baroque style with elements of classicism. When examining the monument, pay attention to its unusually sharp corners, which are quite rare in architecture.
