Mogilev. The house on Leninskaya Street in 1790

While walking along the pedestrian Leninskaya Street in the city of Mogilev, you will be shown many interesting and unusual places and buildings that adorn the historical center. And you will definitely pay attention to the unusual building with the date 1790 on the facade. The architecture of this building is quite simple, but it has a very complicated history. This house was built at the time when Leninskaya Street was called Vetrenaya. And the building was located in the Upper Town near the Governor's Square in a prestigious area. It was built at the intersection of Vetrenaya Street and Spassky Lane. There were two Orthodox monasteries across the street: Bogoyavlensky and Spassky. And so, according to some Mogilev local historians, this building originally belonged to the Spassky Monastery and there was a hotel of the monastery itself. Then, over time, the bourgeois Lurie became the owner of the house, who adapted the premises for an apartment building. There were shops on the ground floor, and the second floor was rented out for apartments and offices. In Soviet times, there was a children's shelter here. And now the building has been bought by a private owner, repairs have been carried out, and cafes and shops work here.

The house is numbered 7, stone, two–storey, built of brick, L-shaped in plan with a rounded corner part.
