Minsk. Theater Yanka Kupala.

The city theater in Minsk was built on the initiative of the Minsk governor, Prince M. Trubetsky, because in 1887 there was a fire in the former building of the theater. According to the decision of the City Duma, it was decided to build a new theater building, for which a beautiful place in the city center near Alexander Square was chosen. The architects of the new theater were Konstantin Uvedensky and Karol Kozlovsky. In June 1888, a ceremonial laying of the building took place, which was attended by Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, who placed several gold coins on the foundation and laid the first bricks. The priest of the Petropavlovsk Church served a prayer service. Since then, the best Moscow and St. Petersburg troupes and outstanding artists have performed on the stage of the theater, including Vera Kamisarzhevskaya. In 1917, the First Belarusian Society of Drama and Comedy, which was created by the director Florian Zhdanovich, staged the play "Pavlinka" by Yanka Kupala. And in December 1917, the First All-Belarusian Congress took place in the theater. A few years later, the Belarusian State Theater started working here, the foundation of which was formed by talented actors: Stefania Stanyuta, Konstantin Sannikov, Yaustignei Mirovich and many others. In the post-war years, the building was rebuilt, losing its original features. From 2010 to 2013, the theater was being reconstructed. There have been changes in the appearance of the theater and its interiors. The original decor was returned and the technical capabilities of the stage were modernized.
