Minsk. Yakub Kolas Square.

Yakub Kolas Square has been built in Minsk at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Yakub Kolas Street. The square is one of the most beautiful in the capital and is named after the national poet of Belarus Y. Kolas.

In the center of the square there is a monument to the folk singer, and next to the monument there are sculptures of literary heroes of the poet.

After the Great Patriotic War in 1956, after the death of the national poet, the square was named after Yakub Kolas. In 1972, the monument to J. Kolas and his literary heroes was inaugurated. The author of the sculptural composition is the famous Belarusian sculptor Zair Azgur. In 1984, the Yakub Kolas Square metro station began operating.

Ya. Kolas Square is bordered by Ya. Kolas, Zolotaya Gorka, Krasnaya, V. Khoruzhey Streets and Mulyavin Boulevard. The state Philharmonic Hall, the Central Department Store, residential buildings and shops have been built on the square.
