Description

Yanka Kupala Park– an oasis of tranquility and beauty named after the outstanding Belarusian poet, is located in the center of Minsk, on the picturesque banks of the Svisloch River. This park was founded in 1950 and has become a favorite vacation spot for the citizens and guests of the capital.
In 1972, in honor of Yanka Kupala's 90th birthday, a monument to the poet was erected in the park. At the same time, the fountain, called the "Wreath", was reconstructed. The sculptural composition of the fountain depicts a scene from the ancient folk festival Kupala – wreaths falling into the water, creating an atmosphere of magic and poetry.

Yanka Kupala Park is a cultural and recreation park in the very center of the city.

Minsk is a charming city that attracts tourists with its diversity and unique places. Its appeal lies not only in the architecture, but also in the beautiful parks. There is a park named Yanka Kupala in the very heart of Minsk.

Once upon a time, there were small houses on the territory of the current park, which suffered greatly from the floods of the Svisloch River in the spring. Over time, it was decided to create a park area here. In 1949, work began on the implementation of this project, and in 1962 the construction was completed. At the same time, the park was named after the great poet Yanka Kupala. In the 1950s, the first trees were planted here: rare blue maples, balsamic and Siberian firs, and Manchurian walnut.

At first, a monument to the hero of the Soviet Union, S.I. Gritsevich, was erected on the central alley, but in 1972, on the 90th anniversary of Yanka Kupala, it was replaced by a memorial to the poet. Famous sculptors L. Gumilyovsky and L. Levin, as well as architects A. Anikeychik, A. Zaspitsky, and Y. Gradov worked on the monument. Simultaneously with the installation of the monument, the fountain composition "Wreath", symbolizing the national holiday Kupala, was restored.

In 1959, a literary museum was founded on the site of the house where Yanka Kupala lived from 1927 to 1941. Unfortunately, the house burned down at the beginning of the Second World War, along with the archive of the poet's manuscripts. Currently, the Yanka Kupala Museum has 36,000 exhibits, including lifetime publications, autographed books, manuscripts, photographs, documents and household items related to the poet's life.

Yanka Kupala Park is located on the banks of the Svisloch River. This large park area is a place of recreation for both residents and guests of the capital. A visit to the park is included in many tours of Minsk. There are bike paths, fresh air and an atmosphere of tranquility in the center of the metropolis. This park is beautiful at any time of the year!
