The Museum of Watchmaking in Belarus offers a fascinating journey into the world of time and mechanisms.
The Minsk Watch Factory, founded in 1953, became the only watch manufacturer in Belarus, presenting the legendary brands "Luch", "Vimpel" and "Zarya". After the difficulties of the post-Soviet period, the plant gained a second wind thanks to cooperation with the Swiss Franck Muller manufactory in 2010.
In 2023, the renovated Luch Watchmaking Museum was opened. Unlike the original exhibition devoted exclusively to the history of the Luch factory, the museum now covers the entire history of watchmaking in Belarus. A sightseeing tour of the museum will allow you to get the most information and impressions from your visit.
What awaits you at the museum:
- A variety of watches: sundial, carriage, fireplace, pocket watches of the XVIII-XX centuries, etc. There are more than 200 models in total!
- The history of the Luch factory: rare specimens produced since 1955, including unique medical and mining watches, as well as the famous "rope" and "crab" models. Discover 70 years of history of the only watch factory in Belarus!
- Interactive exhibits include a watchmaker's table, a Tornos lathe, a projector for rejecting parts, and a high-precision microscope that allows you to view the smallest details of a clockwork mechanism.
- Archival materials: photographs telling about the life and work of the first watchmakers of the Minsk Watch Factory.
After the tour ends, those who wish have the opportunity to purchase memorable gifts and, of course, watches made at the legendary factory.
A guided tour of the production is also possible. It is held by appointment. You will have a unique opportunity to see the watch creation process with your own eyes by visiting the mechanical and assembly shops, the watch face printing site and the airbrushing site.
The Luch Watchmaking Museum is not just a collection of exhibits, it is an opportunity to touch the history, learn about the craftsmanship and innovations of watchmaking in Belarus.
