The famous Wigdorchik house, which today houses the private gallery "Famous Masters".
The three-storey building was built in the early 19th century by the Wigdorchik family of burghers and was used as an apartment building. There is information that Dominik Lutsevich, the father of Yanka Kupala, rented an apartment in this house in 1890-1891.
This ancient rectangular building with a high gable roof bears the name of its owner, Nathan Abramovich Vigdorchik, who was born in Minsk in 1874. Nathan Vigdorchik, MD, Professor, was the author of a number of works on occupational diseases. He was also one of the nine delegates to the first Congress of the RSDLP held in Minsk in 1898.
The architectural style of the building is a combination of elements of several styles. The building is decorated with elements characteristic of its time, which emphasize its status. The facade of the house has high rectangular windows with baseboards and has remained unchanged. Today, the house is a cultural heritage site and attracts the attention of tourists and architects.
Throughout its history, the house has served not only as a living space, but also as a commercial space. The Vigdorchik House has also witnessed many events related to the history of Minsk and the Jewish community.
Today, the Vigdorchik House continues to be an important part of the Minsk urban landscape. Currently, there is a private gallery "Famous masters" ("Slavutyya maistry"). Here you can view and buy art souvenirs made by the hands of Belarusian craftsmen: beautiful belts, paintings, as well as products made of wood, leather and other materials.
