Minsk. The Wendorf house.
A 19th-century architectural monument, the Wendorf House, has been preserved in Minsk on Revolyutsionnaya Street. The former name of Revolyutsionnaya Street is Koidanovskaya.
The Wendorf House is a stone building erected in the early 19th century during the Russian Empire. The house was built on an old foundation and basement from the 18th century.
The building was heavily damaged during a city fire in 1881. The owner of the property at that time was Wendorf Adolf Osipovich, who rebuilt the building.
In 1910, a locksmith's workshop was operating in the basement. There was also a factory for the production of 'seltzer water'. There was a fruit warehouse, a bookbinding workshop and a manufactory store. Part of the building was occupied by residential apartments.
After the revolution in 1920, the house was nationalized. The premises were converted into communal apartments. The building was preserved during the Great Patriotic War. After the war, during the renovation, part of the decoration of the main facade was lost.
