Minsk. Church of the Holy Trinity. Saint Roch.

The parish of the Holy Trinity Church is considered the oldest Catholic community in Minsk. After all, this parish was founded in the 15th century by King Jagail. It was Jagaila who founded the first wooden church, which burned down more than once. The brick temple was built only in the 19th century. The church was built according to the project of M. Sivitsky, an academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, in 1861-1864. Father F. Gorbachevski supervised the construction. The church was built for the collection of donations, which were given not only by Catholics, but also by believers of various denominations in gratitude to Saint Roch, who was believed to have saved Minsk from the cholera epidemic. A school of organists was founded at the new church. And on this occasion, in 1984, after the restoration, the premises of the church were converted into a chamber music hall by the Belarusian State Philharmonic. The church is one-nave. Built in a retro-Gothic style. The one-tower church is rectangular in plan. The interior of the church was also decided in the Neo-Gothic style. In the main altar there was an ancient icon of the Mother of God with Jesus. In the side altar on the right with a miraculous sculpture of St. Roch next to which are the images of Saints Michael and Gabriel. And the left side altar of St. Anthony with St. Luke and John. The church is not visible from the avenue and the street, as it was covered by modern buildings in Soviet times. This, perhaps, saved the church from destruction.
