The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Milcha is an architectural monument in the retrospective Russian style.
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Milcha is an architectural monument in the retrospective Russian style. The main composition of the temple includes a bell-tower vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and a semicircular apse, and the variety of shapes and volumes creates a colorful silhouette of the building. The main entrance is decorated with a two-column porch under a gable roof.
Of interest is the peculiar combination of the rubble stone from which the walls were built with the wooden upper tier of the tent bell tower. The bulbous head above the main volume is mounted on a tall wooden drum with sides. The architectural ensemble also includes a stone fence with a front gate.
During the war years, from 1941 to 1945, the church was closed. In 1946, services resumed in the church and continued until 1960. In 1960, the church was closed and ruined.
Worship services resumed only in 1993. By 1993, the church was restored and on September 8 of this year it was consecrated by Filaret, Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk.
Today, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Milcha is not only a religious site, but also an important part of the history and culture of Belarus, reflecting the rich heritage of Orthodox architecture and attracting both locals and tourists.
About 1 km south of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, there is another attraction - an Orthodox chapel built in the first half of the 19th century. It is a wooden building in a retrospective Russian style with elements of classicism, surrounded by a fence. An Orthodox cross is installed inside.
