Mesyatichi. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Church.
The village of Mesyatichi is located 20 kilometers south of the Pinsk regional center between the two rivers - Pripyat and Styr. Once there were impassable swamps around, but now everything has been drained and a network of drainage channels has been built.
The first mention in historical sources of the Mesyatichi came during the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1516. In 1524, Queen Bona Sforza gave Martin Litvinovich the privilege of the village of Mesyatichi, and since then this place has become the Litvinovich family estate.
After the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the village became part of the Pinsk district of the Minsk province of the Russian Empire.
In Mesyatichi there is an interesting architectural monument of wooden folk architecture, the Orthodox Church of St. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa. The temple was built in 1794. According to some sources, the church originally belonged to Uniate believers. There is an icon of the Mother of God of Mesyatichi in the interior. There is an interesting custom in the village to celebrate the tenth Friday after Easter in a special way. This holiday is called "Tithing" here.
According to experts, the monument is a typical example of wooden architecture in Polesie. The church consists of four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A small vestibule is attached to the main volume and covered with a gable roof. The main volume is completed with an octagonal drum with a small bulb. A five-sided apse is attached to the prayer hall.
The church has been renovated. A two-tiered bell tower was built next to the temple.
There is a funeral for a priest near the church.
