Melniki. Watermill.

On the very border with Poland, four kilometers from the Western Bug River on the right bank of the Pulva River, there is a small village of Melniki near the town of Volchin. Melniki has been known since the 19th century and was part of the estate of Countess Krasinskaya's headquarters. At the end of the 19th century, Melniki had 14 courtyards and 101 inhabitants. After the Peace of Riga in 1921, the village became part of the Polish state and belonged to the Brest region of the Polessky Voivodeship.

The watermill in Melniki on the small river Pulva, which flows into the Western Bug, has been in these places since ancient times and is already mentioned in documents from 1833. At that time, the village and the mill were the property of Countess Krasinska, who had an estate in the current town.

The watermill building, which has survived to our time, was built at the beginning of the 20th century. During the time of the Polish state in the 1930s, the owners of the mill were V. Remez and T. Chambrowski.

After the war, in Soviet times, the mill was nationalized and transferred to a local collective farm.

The mill building is wooden, rectangular, two-storied. Wooden mechanisms have been preserved in the interior of the mill.

In recent years, the village of Melniki has been dying out, and the mill building is in an abandoned state.
