The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the village of Medno is a monument of Polesie wooden architecture of the 19th century.

The first documentary evidence of the existence of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was discovered in the regional archive and dates back to 1814. Throughout its history, the church has remained Orthodox and has never belonged to Uniates or Catholics.

According to the data stored in the central historical archive, the church in Medno was built in 1819 under the leadership of Franz Kovalevsky and local peasants at their own expense. There is also information that the church in the churchyard could have existed as early as the end of the XVIII century. In 1849, the church was radically rebuilt at the expense of local residents and the landowner Branitsky.

Architecturally, the church is a single-frame building with a rectangular main volume covered by a three-pitched roof with an onion dome above the altar. Adjacent to the main volume on the north side is a chapel with a single-pitched roof. Adjacent to the main western facade is a Babynets and a single-tiered bell tower covered with a gable roof with a crown. The main facade is completed with a triangular pediment with a carved openwork frame. The walls of the church are vertically lined with boards, the corners are reinforced with pilasters. Narrow rectangular window openings give the building a distinctive look and a bright interior.

Until 1939, the church was part of the St. Nicholas parish of the village of Zbunin. However, in 1940, the parish was abolished due to the closure and dismantling of St. Nicholas Church. Over the next decades, the Transfiguration Church remained closed and was significantly damaged and destroyed.

In 1992, thanks to the efforts of local residents and the administration of the Mednyanskaya poultry farm, the church was restored to its former form. The restored works allowed the church to be brought back to life and it was included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Belarus. Currently, church services are held regularly, about once a month.

The Church of the Transfiguration is not only a place of spiritual service, but also an important cultural heritage that continues to attract the attention of both locals and tourists.
