Maryina Gorka. Lev Makov's estate.
The stone estate of Lev Makov is located in the Pukhovichi district in the town of Maryina Gorka.
The first manor in the village existed back in the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 16th century. The owners were different: the Radziwills, Buzhinsky, Ratinsky, Krupsky magnates and others.
During the Russian Empire, after the suppression of K. Kalinovsky's anti–Russian uprising of 1863-1864, the estate was confiscated. Lev Makov, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Empire (1830-1883), became the new owner.
Makov built a red brick stone palace. The building was built in 1870-1876 in the eclectic style. The front yard was small. The main part of the courtyard was occupied by a rose garden with flowers.
A park was planted. The elm alley has been well preserved to our time. Linden and oak trees were also planted in the park. The estate had a water system: a canal and a pond. Two-step staircases led to the river.
The building has been renovated several times. In Soviet times, in 1935-1941, the House of Creative Writers of Belarus worked in the building. Famous Belarusian writers and poets rested and worked here: Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Kuzma Chorny, Zmitrok Biadulya and many others.
The building now houses a children's medical center.
