Maloe Podlesye. Holy Trinity Church.
Church
Belarus, Brest region, Lyakhovichi district, Maloe Podlesye village, Nadrechnaya St., 1B
Description
In Maloe Podlesye, on the site of a historic church that existed back in the 1860s, today stands the Trinity Church, which reopened its doors to believers in 2012. Since the summer of 2008, a new church has been under construction on the foundation of the unfinished and destroyed Holy Trinity Church in the 1930s.
The architectural appearance of the Trinity Church in Maloe Podlesye is a striking example of the retrospective Russian style. This is clearly indicated by the characteristic bulbous domes and other details, as well as the overall composition of the building.

Trinity Church and St. Nicholas Church in Maloe Podlesye.
The earliest mentions of the church in this place can be found in the chronicle of the ancient Darevo church, which were carefully preserved by Archimandrite Nicholas in his historical and statistical study dated 1864. According to this source, the temple was erected in 1550 by a local landowner, and was named the Pomonastric Holy Trinity Church. Based on this information, it can be assumed that the Holy Trinity Monastery and the church of the same name in Darevo existed in more ancient times.
In addition to Holy Trinity Church, there was also a cemetery church dedicated to St. Nicholas, located nearby. Subsequently, a chapel was built in its place, and then the temple was restored.
In 1865, the old church was dismantled due to dilapidation. Two years later, in 1867, a new church was built. In 1915, the churches found themselves in a war zone, as a result of which the Holy Trinity Church was completely destroyed by fire.
In the 1930s, the rector of the Darevo parish, Priest Mikhail Vishnevsky, decided to restore the Holy Trinity Church. The construction was successful, but it was not possible to complete it. Poland's war with Germany, the arrival of the Bolsheviks and the beginning of the Great Patriotic War prevented the completion of what had begun.
Only in 2012, a temple was built on the foundation of 1860, which can be seen today.
The St. Nicholas Chapel survived, and in 1922 it was rebuilt by Priest Lopatinsky into a cemetery church. And today, on the cemetery grounds in Maloe Podlesye stands a church dedicated to St. Nicholas. This wooden temple, which served as a place of farewell to the departed, was later lined with silicate bricks. The architectural appearance of the temple is characterized by the simplicity of its forms, which makes it difficult to attribute it to a specific architectural direction.
