Malaya Berestovitsa. The Church of St. Dmitry of Solunsky
In the center of the town of Malaya Berestovitsa on the main street there are two old religious buildings-a church and a church. The Orthodox Church in honor of St. Dmitry of Solunsky was built in 1866 according to the project of Osip Michaelis, who was the provincial architect.
Originally, there was a Uniate church on this site, which was built in the 18th century. Simon Anatsevich, the father of the famous historian Ignatius Anatsevich (1780-1845), served as a priest in this church. The church was built immediately after the suppression of the anti-Russian uprising under the leadership of K. Kalinovsky and the version according to which it was built was later called "muravyovka" - in honor of Count M. Muravyov, who suppressed the uprising and facilitated the construction of Orthodox churches.
The temple is made of brick and rubble stone, built with public money. The church was built according to a standard design in pseudo–Russian style. It consists of 4 main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A multi-tiered bell tower is built over the narthex.
2 world wars passed through the territory of the village and the church was severely damaged, but restored thanks to the efforts of parishioners.
Before the revolution, there was a cross in the church, which was donated by Prince Masalsky. There were 1,390 male and 1,415 female parishioners from 13 villages and towns. 5 church schools and a public school were assigned to the church. There were 2 people who served at the church: a priest and a psalmist.
