Makarovtsy. Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

There is a wooden Catholic church in the village of Makarovtsy. The temple was built in a cemetery in the center of the village near the former estate of Khrustinsky.

When the local estate belonged to the Vashchinskys, a wooden chapel was built in 1767. The Catholic parish was founded in 1795. In 1793, Bishop Ignatius Masalsky of Vilna gave permission for the construction of a church. The Catholic church was consecrated in the summer of 1795 by priest Jozef Sverzhinsky. A stone bell tower and a plebania were built near the church. In Soviet times, after the war, priest Aloysius Tomkovich was arrested. Plebania was taken away and living rooms were made there for school teachers and a savings bank was opened. But the church was constantly working.

The church was restored with the money of believers after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The organ was renovated a few years ago.

The building was built in the traditions of folk architecture and consists of two log cabins of different sizes – the main volume and the apse.

The interior has 3 altars, which are made in the Baroque style. On the sides of one of the altars are stucco polychrome sculptures of Saints Peter and Paul.
