Lesnaya. Monument to the playwright Vladislav Golubok.
In the village of Lesnaya, Baranovichi district, there are several historical and ancient monuments. The center of the town is the railway station, which was built during the time of the Polish state in 1925 in the Zakopane style.
A monument, a sculpture of a Soviet soldier, has been erected near the station on the site of a mass grave where Soviet soldiers and prisoners of war who died in a death camp near Lesnaya are buried.
There is a memorial boulder near the railway station, which is dedicated to a fellow countryman, an outstanding Belarusian national figure Vladislav Golubok.
Vladislav Iosifovich Golubok (1882-1937) was a People's Artist of Belarus, a Belarusian playwright and novelist, actor and artist, writer and theater director.
He was born in the village of Lesnaya in the family of railway worker Joseph Golub. He received his primary education in Minsk. He also started to work in Minsk. Since his youth he attended the theater. He played trombone in the orchestra of the volunteer fire brigade. He studied drawing with famous artists of Minsk. He began publishing poems and short stories in local newspapers. In 1913, the first book "Stories" was published. During the revolution, he joined the first Belarusian Drama and Comedy Society with his wife and children.
A traveling Belarusian State Theater was created, where V. Golubok was appointed head. The plays were staged mainly by Belarusian classics and by Golubok himself. The troupe included several friends of V. Golubok, his son, three daughters and his wife. For some time, famous Belarusian writers worked as actors in the theater: Ales Dudar, Mikhail Kamysh, Vasily Stashevsky and others.
The theater carried out active public educational work. But everything was destroyed in the 1930s during the Stalin repressions. Golubok himself was arrested in 1937. After his arrest, the playwright died in prison or in exile. It is still unknown for sure.
He was rehabilitated in 1957.
In Lesnaya, a memorial plaque dedicated to V. Golubok is installed on the local school building.
