The Holy Ascension Church is an Orthodox church built in the retrospective Russian style. An architectural monument of the early 20th century.
The Holy Ascension Church was built in 1908. But, unfortunately, very soon the services in it were suspended. The church was closed in 1929. It was looted, and some of its property was destroyed. The interiors and facades began to deteriorate and crumble from lack of proper care.
The church building was converted into a warehouse.
During the Great Patriotic War, the Holy Ascension Church miraculously survived. However, after the end of the war, it was not returned to the Orthodox believers. At first, the church building was used as a dormitory for construction workers, then the church became a training place for local rock climbers.
The church was returned to believers only in 1992. The restoration was carried out and the church once again shone with bright colors, exquisite facade decoration, and golden iconostasis. Since then, she began to gather Orthodox believers for divine services.
Today the church is active. It is a beautiful and cozy temple. It is unusual, it is in excellent condition. We see a beautiful bell tower above the main entrance, a refectory, a cube-shaped prayer hall, and a small apse. There is a noticeable abundance of architectural decoration on the church building, which I would like to consider.
There is a font at the temple and thirty meters from it there is a spring of St. Seraphim of Sarov with clear, transparent water. The temple grounds are well maintained, with lots of flowers.
This church is definitely worth seeing!
