Description

There is a regional museum of local lore in the center of Luninets, which was founded in 1978. The museum's exposition is located in a historic building that was erected during the time of the Polish state in 1929. To date, the museum has collected more than 10,000 exhibits, which are presented in 5 halls. A large collection is collected on ethnography, the Great Patriotic War, and the period of the Polish state of 1921 - 1939. There are materials about the activities of the national poet J. Kolas in Luninets, who lived here in 1911-1912.

Luninets. Regional Museum of Local Lore.

The town of Luninets was first mentioned in written sources during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 15th century. The city has an interesting and rich history, which can be found in the Luninets Regional Museum of Local Lore.


The building in which the museum is located is located in the city center and was built during the time of the Polish state in 1929. The decree on the opening of the museum was adopted in 1978, and the exposition opened in 1986.


In May 2007, a new exhibition was opened in a solemn atmosphere on the International Museum Day. In five halls you will learn about the interesting and unusual history of the Luninets region. A significant phenomenon that gave a great impetus to the development of the city and the district and significantly influenced the history of Luninets was the construction of a railway, about which unique information has been collected.


In the exhibition called "Peasant hut" you will learn about the peculiarities of life and everyday life of the Poleshuk people of this region.

Literature lovers will learn about the life and work of the National poet Yakub Kolas, who lived in Luninets in 1911-1912.


A lot of material in the museum is collected about the life of Belarusians during the Polish state in 1921 - 1939. A significant place in the exposition belongs to exhibits and documents dedicated to the period of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people. The museum has more than 10 thousand exhibits.
