The house of the merchant Dolgin in Loev is a significant architectural monument with elements of neoclassicism.
The building of the former house of the merchant Dolgin is made of brick and has a rectangular shape in plan. It is two-storeyed, with a 4-pitched hip roof. The main facade is distinguished by a complex cornice with ornaments and crackers, as well as rhythmically arranged rusticated shoulder blades. The large windows on the first floor are decorated with arched openings with keystones, while the windows on the second floor are decorated with architraves, sandalwood and ornaments. The building has a corridor layout.
Previously, a hotel was located on the ground floor of the house. Sailors from ships and barges, traders during the fairs, rested here after day trips. The second floor was occupied by the Dolgin family.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the left side of the house was rebuilt, and in 1997 a large-scale reconstruction began, which was completed in 2004, timed to coincide with Loev's 500th anniversary.
Currently, the building houses the district and children's libraries, as well as the district Department of culture.
The house of the merchant Dolgin is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus, which underlines its importance for the cultural heritage of the region. The building is the oldest surviving building in Loev.
