Lake Lisno.

Lake Lisno is one of the most expressive natural places of the Verkhnedvinsk region: the combination of deep forests, clear water and sharp coastal cliffs creates a landscape that will be remembered for a long time. The reservoir stretches from north to south for 7.8 km; its coastline is about 25.5 km long and in some places steeply drops off to the water (south and west), and in some places turns into a wide swampy floodplain with sparse pine forest. Such a variety of terrain forms a rich nature: there are coastal reed beds, mixed forests, and islands — the largest of them, the Lisnyansky, separates a bay in the southern part of the lake.

The Svolna River flows through Lisno (the basin of the Western Dvina); the Degtyarevka Canal provides communication with Lake Osveiskoe. Due to this, the water in the lake is of good quality: underwater macrophytes are developed in the littoral, and in the coastal zone there is a wide strip of vegetation (100-200 m), which creates favorable conditions for fish and birds. The lake is part of the 'Krasny Bor' republican landscape reserve (since 1995), therefore, environmental restrictions apply on the territory: it is forbidden to destroy tree and shrub vegetation, leave garbage and use motorboats outside specially designated areas.

The ichthyofauna is typical for bream‑pike ponds: bream, tench, perch, roach, grouper, pike, walleye, carp, ide, crucian carp; there are catfish, rapeseed and burbot. Amateur fishing is free, commercial fishing is conducted periodically. The best time to catch is in the early morning and evening; wobblers, spinners, and silicone baits are effective for predators. There are recreational facilities for fishermen on the shores and at tourist sites, and in the 'Krasny Bor' tourist complex you can rent accommodation and use the service.

It is very interesting for birdwatchers: common gogol, wriggly warbler, great white heron and other waterfowl are found here. Moose, red deer, and even bison can be found in the surrounding forests; in autumn, the currents of capercaillie and the voices of males during the rutting season are especially noticeable.

On the mountain near the village of Zaluzhye, there is a tourist parking lot with a wooden gazebo — the Sunrise Theater — from where you can enjoy panoramas of the lake, the Svolna River and Krasnoborskaya Pushcha. The 'Krasny Bor' tourist complex and the 'Izubritsa' Hotel are located along convenient entrances, where you can stay if you wish not to live in a tent. For road travelers, the last kilometers often take place on gravel roads; it is more convenient to arrive by car.

Lisno is suitable for day trips, kayaking and catamaran trips, fishing, photo safari and bird watching. Routes along the Svolna River and links with lakes Pripischa and Osveiskoe are popular. There are piers, barbecues and toilets in the parking lots — this makes it easier to relax with your family.

Plan your visit during the warm season: spring and summer are the best time for swimming and water walks; early autumn is for watching big game and bird migrations. Respect the nature reserve regime: do not make bonfires outside of equipped areas, do not leave garbage and do not use motorboats where it is prohibited. For fishing, take with you a set of baits (wobblers, spinners, silicone), a spare fishing line and patience — large fish are found here, but not always in groups.

Lisno is a combination of easy accessibility and wild nature: there are convenient parking lots, secluded bays, and picturesque cliffs. For those who are looking for a relaxing holiday by the water, high-quality fishing and the opportunity to see rare birds and large mammals, Lake Lisno remains one of the best natural corners of the Vitebsk region.
