The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Leskovichi is a historical and architectural monument built in 1878.
The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the village of Leskovichi is a monument of architecture of the retrospective Russian style. It is not only a place of worship, but also an important cultural site.
The architectural style of the temple combines elements of traditional Russian architecture with the new trends of the time. This area is characterized by rich decor, high domes and pronounced symmetry.
The temple has a three-dimensional composition: a 2-tiered four-tiered bell tower, a cuboid prayer hall, a 3-sided apse with side sacristy. The sloping 4-pitched roof of the main volume ends with a cross, above the hipped roof of the bell tower is a makovka.
The facades of the temple are decorated with arched friezes, corner columns and shoulder blades, niches, flat platbands of arched window openings.
Divine services in the church were conducted until 1930. Then a club was organized in the church building. Later, the building was used as a granary.
During the Great Patriotic War, the church remained active. Divine services continued to be held there until 1962. Later, the building was used as a storage room.
In 1990, the diocese, parishioners and employees of local enterprises repaired and extensively restored the church.
Today, the church has been restored and services are held in it.
The architecture of the church building is unusual. The construction of rubble stone and antique brick is impressive - people in those days were able to build buildings for centuries...
