Lepel. Church of St. Casimir.

The small town of Lepel is a district center on the shore of a large beautiful lake. Not far from the lake there is a park and a Catholic church.

The Church of St. Casimir was built in the 19th century in the classical style.

The first church in Lepel was built at the beginning of the 17th century and already in 1604 the church was consecrated in honor of St. Casimir. Over the course of two centuries, several fires occurred and the temple fell into disrepair. In 1876, a new stone church was built with the money of the collegiate assessor Malczewski.

During the Soviet years, the church was closed and the priest was arrested. The building was converted into a garage. After the collapse of the Soviet state, the Catholic shrine was returned to the faithful. Repairs were carried out, and in 1995 the church was consecrated.

The church is a three-aisled temple with a two-tower façade. Before the closure of the temple, the interior featured paintings on the walls; during the closure, they were lost and were not restored after the church was returned to the faithful. The ancient icons of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and St. Casimir, as well as the ancient altars, were also lost. The interior altars were made in the Baroque style. The main altar contained sculptures of St. Peter and St. Paul and decorative vases.

The area around the church has been landscaped in recent years, flower beds have been planted. A sculpture of Pope John II has been installed in front of the church. The church is active.
