Lebedevo. Trinity Church.

Lebedevo is an agro-town in the Molodechno district of the Minsk region. It was first mentioned in 1387 in a deed of gift from Jagiello to the principalities of Trok, Minsk and Polotsk to his brother Prince Skirgail. The history of the town is rich and replete with various events and facts, most of which are related to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, as well as military operations.

The Russian Church in Lebedevo was mentioned already in the first half of the 16th century. According to legend, there was once a church on the market square, built by kn. Radziwill. Unfortunately, the church burned down at the end of the 18th century.  In 1798, a wooden church was built; due to dilapidation, it was closed in 1880.

The new stone church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity was built in 1869. The parish included a chapel dedicated to the Nativity of John the Baptist. There was a church house. The church housed an icon of St. Alexander Nevsky in a silver chasuble, which was a gift from Emperor Alexander II.

In 2023, repair and restoration work resumed in the church.

It is known that today the Trinity Church continues to fulfill its religious functions, holding divine services, baptisms and other important rituals. The church is also very popular among tourists interested in the history and culture of Belarus.

The Trinity Church in Lebedevo is not only a place of worship, but also a significant architectural object of the mid-19th century, which preserves and transmits to all of us the traditions and history of the region.
