Kroshin. Church of the Body of God

After driving through the entire town of Kroshin, you will see a small white Catholic church on the edge of the road. The first church in Kroshyn was built in the 15th century. And in 1818, a new wooden Catholic church was built. Church of the Corpus Christi was built already during the time of the Polish state in 1920s. In Soviet times, the church was closed and the museum of the Belarusian poet Pavlyuk Bagrim, who was born in Kroshin in 1813, was located here. Bagrim was conscripted into the army for participating in the peasant revolt and writing anti-government poems. The poet is buried right behind the church in the ancient cemetery.

The church building is rectangular in plan with a gable roof. A three-sided apse completes the main volume. The main facade has a two-tier composition. On the edges of the facade there are small four-sided towers. Old tombstones are embedded in the foundation of the building.

The interior of the church is decorated with a bronze girondole (chandelier), which was made by the poet Pavliuk Baghrim in the 19th century. The chandelier is made of bronze and cast iron in the form of a hoop, which is supported by three metal rods. Girandoli forging is openwork and ornamental and has great artistic value. Near the church on the left is a commemorative boulder with an inscription in Belarusian and Latin: "Life is short - Motherland is eternal."
