Kozlovichi. Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Andrew Boboli.
A wooden Catholic church has been built in the town of Kozlovichi, Grodno region, which is located between Skidel and Grodno. The church was consecrated in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Andrei Boboli.
The first Catholic church, which was built in the early 19th century, was renovated by Countess Svetchina in 1859. The Countess came from the Bisping family. The church was taken away after the anti-Russian uprising and rebuilt as an Orthodox church. And Catholic believers went to church services in the nearby town of Ozery.
During the time of the Polish state, in 1920, the church was returned to Catholics and consecrated in honor of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Andrew Boboli the Martyr. In the period from 1920 to 1922, the facade of the church was rebuilt. Two four-pointed towers were completed on the temple. In 1923, the church began to operate its own priest. In 1939, the number of believers was more than a thousand people.
After the Great Patriotic War, the church was closed in 1969. The church items were transported to Grodno to the Bernardine Church. And the temple building was adapted for a granary. The church was falling into disrepair. The church was handed over to Catholics again in 1989, and the first Mass was held in May 1990.
The monument was erected in the style of Belarusian folk wooden architecture. The main facade is decorated with two four-tiered towers. The main volume is covered by a four-pitched roof.
