Kopyl has a great seven-hundred-year history. The city has a local history museum and old city buildings. In the center of Kopyl is the Orthodox Church of the Ascension of the Lord.

The church is built on one of the central streets of the city. The temple is small and fits very well into the surrounding architecture, which is dominated by low-rise buildings and the private sector. You can leave your car near the church and look at the monument.

The church was built in 1866 according to a standard design. The Synod of the Russian Empire approved several standard designs for Orthodox churches of the 19th century, and many churches were built according to this design throughout the vast country. During the Soviet era, in the 1930s, the church was closed and a museum operated in the building. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the church was handed over to believers. Repairs were carried out and the territory was landscaped. The church is active.

The church building is centric-cross-shaped. Stone, built of brick and rubble stone. It consists of 3 main parts: the vestibule, the prayer hall and the apse.
